Hurricane Irene UpdateSeptember 1, 2011

Hurricane Irene came through Connecticut this past Sunday and we have spent the better part of the week cleaning up in its wake. Though it did jostle our hatchery a little bit, everything is now back in working order. We can happily report that no oysters were harmed.

The state of Connecticut suspends harvesting of shellfish when rainfall in a 24-hour period exceeds 1.5″. This storm brought rainfall in excess of 8″. This means that our operations have been halted for the time being.

Stay tuned for updates.

Welcome to our new siteAugust 3, 2011

Things are gearing up pretty quickly at Ned's Island Oysters. While the site was down we focused on building our hatchery to ensure a steady supply of oysters. Now that our hatchery is complete we are just about ready to begin selling Ned's Island Oysters again.

For now, hang around, take a look at our new website, and feel free to email us with any questions you have.

Take care, thanks for visiting, and be sure to check back soon for more updates.
